This book contains all thirteen of Oscar Wilde's fairy tales and stories which were originally published in 'The Happy Prince and Other Tales'; 'A House of Pomegranates' and 'Lord Arthur Savile's Crime'. 'The Happy Prince' is the gold and jewelled statue who stands high above the city looking down on the poverty and misery of his citizens. Unable to help them himself, the Prince befriends a swallow who agrees to deliver his gifts, but with the onset of winter they have little time left. When 'The Selfish Giant' forbids children to play in his garden he also banishes laughter and joy; the birds stop singing, the trees no longer blossom and winter goes on forever. Only when the giant learns how to love and give will spring return. In 'Lord Arthur Savile's Crime' the young aristocrat learns he will commit a terrible murder when his hand is read by Mr Podgers. Madly in love with his fiancée Sybil, he makes the momentous decision to immediately carry out his dreadful deed so that he will have a clear conscious on his wedding day, but who will be his victim?
