The dissertation concerns the role of stakeholders in the functioning of the economic sector. For this purposes district heating sector has been selected and characterized by its specific features. In the empirical part following research methods were used: critical analysis of literature, analysis of documents and single case study. The conducted research shows that stakeholders of district heating companies are a large and diverse group of entities located in internal and external environment of these companies. Stakeholders differ in their influence and impact of influence what is important in building relationships and in the nature of these relationships. The analysis carried out in the dissertation also showed that the characteristics of the heating sector affect the relations between district heating companies and their stakeholders.
